United Forum of Bank Unions has written to CMD of Dena Bank and MD & CEO of Punjab National Bank taking the issue of giving mandate for negotiation upto Scale III only. These Bank have given mandate to IBA in respect of wage negotiations in the ongoing 11th Bipartite Settlement for Officers upto Scale III only.

UFBU asked these two banks that “if not us then who will negotiate the pay for Officers in Scale IV and above?” On what basis it will be determined?

UFBU requested that mandate for officers in Scale IV and above be communicated to IBA immediately.

The letters make it clear that UFBU will not agree to any conditional mandate authorizing the IBA to negotiate only in respect of officers in Scale I to Scale III. The letter says “Divide and Rule policy, as practiced by British, is not good for the country. This attempt will destroy the Banking Industry”

“The management must consider the wage hike as an investment in their employees an officers. Otherwise, with more private banks to be set up, they would easily poach from PSBs with higher pay packages.” reads the letter.
